Well after a 9 hour flight from Maui to Sydney, another two hour flight to the sunshine coast, Mauricio and Elliot met up with Ben Wilson at the airport and were greeted with sun, wind, and a rising swell forecast. Within leaving the airport Ben was on it and had us to the beach within an hour. We ended up deciding to ride and shoot this wave spot called Collum. It was solid 11m wind and head high surf, sunny, perfect warm up conditions. Morris and Ben quickly sorted thier shit out and were in the water with the film rolling. Well, this is where the shit hits the fan. 2 hours off the plane on his third wave of the session, Morris eye’s a head high backside bowl, and launched a huge backside floater free falling like 6 feet into the flats. SNAP!!!!!!, broke his leg (strapless surfboard by the way.) Lifeguards came to the rescue and got him off the beach. Ben came in and we quickly took him to the hospital. The final prognosis is he fractured his Tibia and requires surgery, a couple of screws, and some rest. Needless to say everyone was bummed. He is having the surgery done here in OZ and will head back to Hawaii for recovery. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
Out,
