It has been like four days now since the last post. There has been no wind, small surf, so the call has been golf. We went to the local golf course yesterday, and needless to say we were killing it. We only lost 18 balls. Actually 16 cuz Moe went wading in the slime filled lake and found the two we hit in the drink. Ben is the only one of us that can actually drive the ball somewhat straight and actually owns his own clubs. Golfing in Australia is pretty cool, it’s the only place where you can be getting ready to tee off and a whole pack of kangaroos will run across the fairway making for some fun targeting opportunities. Here some shots from the session. Wind and waves are in the forecast, which is the reason we opted to stay on the Sunshine coast for time being.

Today we took gramps (Morris) to the airport. His leg is doing well post-op and he is headed back to Hawaii for some rehab. We are contemplating heading to WA to catch a swell there, but are monitoring the forecasts before we decide what to do, there is another swell with good wind forecast for the sunshine coast.

Today there the wind was too offshore to kite, but the surf was still shoulder high and CLEAN out the back of Ben’s house so surfing was the call. Later on in the day we rigged up the slackline over the pool in the back of Ben’s house.

Today the winds shifted a little but did not die at all. We decided to ride at Caloundra rivermouth. It was super windy (7m) when we first arrived and well over head high waves out the rivermouth. Moe got all his kites and rode as well as Ben, Joel and Beaver. Still pretty socked in with rain at the moment making it not so good for filming. Ben ended up doing a second session later in the day.

The last two days have been super windy and LARGE surf for here. Yesterday was 4-8ft faces with solid 9m wind, and today was 8-15ft+ faces with 7m wind! It was all good except for the fact that it was pretty much raining the whole time Ben and Elliot were riding making less than ideal filming conditions. The surf was large enough to amass somewhat of a crowd of onlookers at the point break we were riding. It was even enough for the local news station to come down and shoot us riding and interview Ben for the local evening news. Later on the evening news, they referred to us as “Kite Flying Storm Chasers.” Now Ben is getting famous here in Kawana for chasing these elusive storms while flying his colorful kite. Frame grabs coming soon. Moe also arrived today and will be riding and filming with the crew. Later on in the day Ben, Moe and Elliot drove to Noosa to surf the famous right hand point break only to find 150 other surfers who decided the same thing (check the pic.) Oh yea, Tobias, if you’re out there, we just wanted to let you know that we are doing fine and that everything is OK in case you were worried about us or something.

Well, Morris survived his operation and is in a bit of pain post op, but with the help of a Morphine drip, he’s taking it like a man. He ended up with 6 Titanium screws in his ankle to hold it all together. He will stay in the hospital one more night and then he’s gonna chill at Ben’s place for like a week until he can fly back to Hawaii. Everyone is stoked he had a successful surgery and can now begin his recovery. Wind is steadily increasing as well as the swell forecast for this weekend.

Today was a good day. First off we woke up at 5:00 am to take Morris to his 6:30am appointment to surgery. After about a 4 hour wait, Morris was admitted to surgery and went under the knife. Latest update is that he made it, and is doing well post-op although he’s a bit out of it from all the pain med. Ben & Elliot are headed to the hospital this evening to visit him as he is scheduled to overnight at the hospital. While Morris was in surgery Elliot & Ben caught a little kite session at a closeby point break. Frame grabs from today attached. The last couple of days there has been no wind with like shoulder to head high waves. Elliot and Ben have been slacklining (pics attached), surfing, bodysurfing to bide the time and Morris is preparing for his day of surgery tomorrow. Pics will follow tomorrow. It’s been a few days since the last update here in OZ. Elliot and Ben have had like three kite sessions with some light winds and like shoulder high wave at this spot called Caloundra. The wind was a bit light for a lot of action, but the place has huge potential for this next swell headed our direction. Speaking of swells, a rather big swell with a lot of wind is headed our direction starting tomorrow and extending out for like a week. Hopefully it will produce some worthy footage. Morris is in good spirits on the couch recouping and is scheduled to go under the knife tomorrow morning. He will overnight in the hospital post surgery than recover a few days on the couch and then head back to Hawaii for some rehab/rest. All our best wishes for a successful operation and recovery. Well after a 9 hour flight from Maui to Sydney, another two hour flight to the sunshine coast, Mauricio and Elliot met up with Ben Wilson at the airport and were greeted with sun, wind, and a rising swell forecast. Within leaving the airport Ben was on it and had us to the beach within an hour. We ended up deciding to ride and shoot this wave spot called Collum. It was solid 11m wind and head high surf, sunny, perfect warm up conditions. Morris and Ben quickly sorted thier shit out and were in the water with the film rolling. Well, this is where the shit hits the fan. 2 hours off the plane on his third wave of the session, Morris eye’s a head high backside bowl,and launched a huge backside floater free falling like 6 feet into the flats. SNAP!!!!!!, broke his leg (strapless surfboard by the way.) Lifeguards came to the rescue and got him off the beach. Ben came in and we quickly took him to the hospital. The final prognosis is he fractured his Tibia and requires surgery, a couple of screws, and some rest. Needless to say everyone was bummed. He is having the surgery done here in OZ and will head back to Hawaii for recovery. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
